Ground Studies for Pilots
Ground Studies for Pilots
Audiovisual Performance
Ground Studies for Pilots is a generative audiovisual performance by Pandelis Diamantides that explores the preparatory phase of pilots “studying the ground” before taking flight. This metaphorical exploration serves as a lens through which Diamantides examines the human condition: the tension between being grounded in physical reality and the anticipation of a leap into the unknown.
Bluets
Bluets
Sound, Voice & Light
Bluets is an exploration of silence, color, and sound, a meditative work where voice and electronic music dissolve into the luminous essence of blue. Inspired by journeys across the Aegean Sea and the layered depths of Mediterranean urban landscapes, it delves into the infinite shades and emotions of blue. As Yves Klein might suggest, it is both a technical challenge and a metaphysical experience. As John Cage reminds us, true silence does not exist, yet, in Bluets, one might hear the colour blue. This project is a collaboration between composer and visual artist Pandelis Diamantides and vocalist Kristia Michael, blending contemporary classical music, experimental electronic soundscapes, video art, and the poetics of light into a singular experience.
Παλμός (Palmós)
Παλμός (Palmós)
Audiovisual Performance
Pulse. Heartbeat. Vibration. A meditation on how emotion moves through the body, the crowd, the city. Παλμός frames the heart as a metaphor, a site of feeling, rhythm, and invisible connection. Each gesture, each presence, each movement becomes part of a shared, pulsing system. A performance that listens inward and outward, tracing how thought, feeling, and proximity resonate through us.
Drowning
Drowning
Fulldome Audiovisual Performance
Dive into a mesmerizing realm where sound flows like water. Drowning immerses you in a sensory world of submersion, isolation, and ecstatic release.360° visuals echo the endless motion of sound waves, as you descend from surface to depth, where bass reverberates through the body and high frequencies shimmer like underwater light. This is a journey through cymatics and sonic pressure, a performance you don’t just hear, but feel. Sound becomes the ocean itself: vast, physical, overwhelming. Drowning evokes what it means to lose yourself, to surrender to sensation, silence, and the unknown.
Quickly Photographed and Released Unharmed
Audiovisual Performance
A collection of generative works that resist representation, confronting the screen not as a window, but as a luminous force. In a world saturated with images, Quickly Photographed and Released Unharmed explores overstimulation as both sensory assault and aesthetic strategy.Light and sound unfold in rapid, pulsating sequences. After-images linger. Perception is pushed to its edge. The screen becomes a raw medium — a site of intensity, not depiction. An ongoing exploration into how we see, what we absorb, and what remains.
Go Back to Hiding in the Shadows
Audiovisual Performance
A digital granary of sound and image, where processed voices, instruments, field recordings, and natural swarms trace a narrative of becoming.Rooted in the landscapes of Cyprus’ Troodos mountains, the work dissolves the boundaries between human, animal, and environment. Photographs, videos, and visual textures blend with deconstructed voices and sonic fragments to form an immersive ecology of memory and transformation. Go Back to Hiding in the Shadows listens to what hides, what returns, and what survives.
False Awakenings
Audiovisual Performance
A hypnotic weave of abstract rhythms, evolving ambient landscapes, and detailed sound design.
Generative audio structures become a canvas for visual explorations of time, motion, and memory. Through bass, light, and colour, False Awakenings builds an immersive world, a temporal construct shaped by entropy and sensation. A meditation on disorientation, presence, and the fragile architecture of perception.
Green
Audiovisual Performance
A precise exploration of sonic frequency and timbre, from the low, tactile rumble of infrabass to the most delicate high-frequency sonorities. Green listens with intention, revealing the invisible architectures of sound in their purest form.
